How Supabase Project Isolation Works
When multiple applications use the same infrastructure, separation becomes important. A Supabase project contains much more than database tables. It can include authentication users, storage buckets, API configuration, realtime subscriptions, and security policies.
Separate Database
Each project needs its own database environment so application data remains separated.
Separate Authentication
User accounts belong to the individual project. A user registered in one application should not automatically become a user in another.
Separate Storage
Uploaded files should also remain separated between applications. For example, a client's private documents should not appear inside another client's storage environment.
Separate Keys
API credentials are project-specific. This makes it possible for each application to communicate with its own backend environment.
Why This Matters
Isolation makes multi-project hosting easier to reason about. You can think about each project as its own backend while using a shared resource pool underneath the infrastructure.
Hostwares currently describes each project as having its own database, Auth, Storage, keys, and subdomain.
For developers managing multiple applications, this structure can simplify infrastructure without mixing project data.
