Railway cost calculator

Railway bills compute per second on top of a monthly plan fee, which is why nobody can tell you what it costs without knowing your usage. Put your setup in and see the number.

Your Railway usage

Railway rates verified 2026-08-13 against railway.com/pricing: $0.0278/vCPU-hour, $0.0139/GB-hour, $0.05/GB egress, $0.156/GB-month volume. Railway is a trademark of Railway Corp. Hostwares is not affiliated with or endorsed by Railway. This assumes services run continuously at the allocation you set — Railway meters actual usage per second, so an app that idles will cost less than shown.

How Railway pricing works

You pay a plan fee, and that fee comes with an equal amount of usage credit. Compute is then metered per second and drawn against the credit; anything beyond it is billed on top. Hobby is $5/mo with $5 of credit, Pro is $20/mo per workspace with $20 of credit. There is also a free tier with $1 of monthly credit, and a 30-day $5 trial.

When Railway is the better choice

  • • Your services are bursty or idle much of the time — per-second metering genuinely rewards that, and a flat pack does not.
  • • You want their template ecosystem and one-click database provisioning.
  • • You are on the free or Hobby tier and staying inside the credit. That is hard to beat.
  • • You like the deployment UX. It is one of the best in this category and we are not claiming otherwise.
