Which are the best Supabase hosting providers?
Supabase Cloud is the default and the right answer for one small project; the dedicated providers are for people who want their own instance with a flat price, or several projects on one bill. Elestio, ManageStacks and Stellar Hosted run the stack on a cloud account for you; Supascale sells a product for running it on your own server; a Hostinger VPS is the do-it-yourself floor; Hostwares provisions a dedicated instance per account with several projects per pack and an AI agent that operates it. Prices below carry the date they were checked; ours are read live from the pack table.
Which one, for what
| If you have | Pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| One project, small, you want zero operations | Supabase Cloud | Free tier, then Pro; branching, their dashboard and their support. |
| Several projects, one flat bill, you also host the app | Hostwares | Dedicated instance per account, several projects per pack, app and Supabase in the same dashboard and the same AI agent. |
| Supabase on your own cloud account (Hetzner, DigitalOcean, AWS) | Elestio | Deploys into a cloud you pick and bills for that instance. |
| A licensed product to run on a server you already own | Supascale | Software plus updates for your own machine. |
| The cheapest possible box and you do all the work | Hostinger VPS, official docker-compose | Promotional VPS price; you patch, back up and monitor. |
The options, ranked by the job
1.Supabase Cloud
free tier; Pro $25/mo plus usage; custom domain add-on $10/mo
Best for: The first project. Nothing to run, branching, their support, and the official dashboard.
Weaker when: Per-project compute, egress and add-ons stack up; the custom domain costs extra; a second project doubles the per-project lines.

2.Hostwaresus
from $5/mo per pack, several projects per pack
Best for: A dedicated instance on resources you choose, billed as a flat pack rather than by rows or monthly active users, with the app hosted next to it and HW to deploy, read logs and connect it over the dashboard, CLI or MCP.
Weaker when: No free tier and no branching UI; backups are yours to take from the dashboard or with create_backup; the API hostname is ours, your custom domain goes on the app.
3.Elestio
from $16/mo on the smallest instance (varies by cloud)
Best for: Running Supabase on a cloud account and region you choose, with updates and backups handled by Elestio.
Weaker when: Price follows the underlying cloud instance; one stack per instance; the app itself is hosted elsewhere.

4.Perimattic ManageStacks
from $15/mo
Best for: A small dedicated Supabase stack at a low entry price.
Weaker when: A smaller provider; check support hours and backup policy before relying on it for production.

5.Stellar Hosted
from €49/mo
Best for: EU-hosted open-source business software including Supabase, with a European contract.
Weaker when: The highest entry price in the list.

6.Supascale
licensed product for your own server (see site for current pricing)
Best for: Teams that already own servers and want a maintained way to run Supabase on them.
Weaker when: You still provide, patch and back up the machine; the licence is on top of the server.

7.Hostinger VPS, do it yourself
KVM 1 from $6.49/mo promotional, renews higher
Best for: The cheapest possible box for the official docker-compose stack, with a browser terminal.
Weaker when: 4 GB is the working minimum for the full stack; you do updates, backups, monitoring and the reverse proxy; the renewal price is well above the promotional one.

Step by step
- 1
Count your projects and your add-ons
Open your Supabase Cloud billing page if you have one. One project on the free tier: stay. One Pro project with compute or custom-domain add-ons, or two or more projects: a dedicated provider is usually cheaper and flat.
- 2
Decide who runs it
Cloud, Elestio, ManageStacks, Stellar and Hostwares provision the stack for you. Supascale and a bare VPS mean you patch and back up the machine. Be honest about who on the team will do that at 2 a.m.
- 3
Deploy the instance
Dashboard → Supabase → New: pick a pack (Standard or larger is recommended because the stack runs several services together), and the instance is provisioned with keys generated and a URL with HTTPS. Studio is included.
- 4
Move a project
It is standard Postgres underneath: pg_dump the source, pg_restore into the new project, swap the URL and keys in the client, and set the Auth redirect URLs. Coming from Lovable Cloud, the migration tool does the database, users and files in one backup.
Dump and restore
pg_dump "<source connection string>" --no-owner -Fc > project.dump pg_restore --no-owner -d "<new connection string>" project.dump - 5
Set up backups and verify
Take a first backup from the dashboard or with create_backup over MCP, and decide how often you will. supabase_status and supabase_logs report the instance from Claude Code or Cursor; verify_db_connection confirms the app reaches it.
What it costs
- Hostwares: a dedicated Supabase pack from $5/mo, several projects per pack, flat for the term; no per-project compute line, no egress meter, no monthly-active-user pricing.
- Everyone else's price is in the list with the date it was checked.
App
$1/mo
Starter Frontend pack, 1 vCPU / 1 GB RAM / 10 GB
Database, users and files
$5/mo
Smallest dedicated Supabase pack; several projects fit on one
Questions
Is self-hosted Supabase the same product as Supabase Cloud?+
The same open-source stack: Postgres, Auth, Storage, Realtime and Studio, same client libraries and SQL. Cloud adds branching, their dashboard and their support on top.
How much RAM does the stack need?+
4 GB is the working minimum for the full stack. Providers that advertise less are running a subset or will swap.
Where is Hostwares weaker than the others?+
No free tier, no branching UI, and backups are yours to take rather than scheduled for you. The API hostname is ours; your custom domain goes on the app. Cloud is the better pick for a single small project.
Do these providers take a custom domain on the API?+
Supabase Cloud sells it as an add-on. On your own server it is a DNS record and a reverse proxy. On Hostwares the instance has a stable hostname with HTTPS and your domain goes on the frontend site.
Can I move between providers later?+
Yes. Every one of them is standard Postgres: dump, restore, update the URL and keys, and the Auth redirect URLs.
How were the prices checked?+
Each entry links to the provider's page and shows the date. Hostwares prices are read live from the pack table.
