Email and password authentication remains one of the most common login methods for web applications.
Supabase Auth lets you build this flow without creating the complete authentication backend yourself.
Create Signup
Your signup form can collect an email address and password. Send those credentials to Supabase Auth.
Confirm the Account
Depending on your authentication configuration, users may need to confirm their email address. Make sure your email settings are configured before testing the complete flow.
Build Login
Your login form sends the credentials to Supabase. If authentication succeeds, the application receives an authenticated session.
Add Logout
Your dashboard should provide a logout option. When the user logs out, clear the active authentication session.
Protect Private Pages
Pages such as: Dashboard Profile Settings Billing should verify authentication before showing private information.
Don't Store Passwords Yourself
One major advantage of using a dedicated authentication service is that you don't need to design your own password storage system.
Keep authentication responsibilities inside the authentication layer and focus your application on its actual business logic.
